Carlin also had a hilarious routine about flying. He talked about airport announcements such as “proceed to the gate.” He’d say, “It’s not a gate. It’s a door.” Or, “I don’t want to get on the plane. I want to get IN the plane.” Or, “I don’t want to land in the Cleveland area. I want to land at the airport.”

Thanks, Claire. YouTube has a clip of that bit, too:

If you do a youtube search for “George Carlin Airport Security”, there’s a great audio-only bit from one of his HBO specials. It’s pre 9/11 and pretty over the top, but hilarious.
RIP George.
