The Critics: New York Times Holiday Travel Book Picks

This weekend the New York Times continued its annual flurry of book picks with eight travel selections, including The Best American Travel Writing 2006, Beppe Severgnini’s La Bella Figura and Gillian Kendall’s Mr. Ding’s Chicken Feet, the story of a woman teaching English to Chinese sailors aboard an oil survey ship in the Gulf of Mexico. Earlier this week, the Times picked Rory Stewart’s The Places in Between as one of its 10 best books of 2006.
