We couldn’t resist the latest edition of Slate’s Well Traveled featuring “Hold the Enlightenment” author Tim Cahill.

The online magazine has commissioned him to explore the routes of the blues from New Orleans to Chicago, and it equipped him with some of the best Web technology the site’s backers (Microsoft) could buy. The result is one of the slickest, highest-quality travelogues to be found online. Cahill’s dispatches are accompanied by photos, audio clips and pretty graphics, but, of course, the real draw here is Cahill, one of the best travel writers in the business. His eight-day travelogue continues through next week.
