At age 19 I was was held up at gunpoint and pistol whipped by a bunch of bandits with sawed off shotguns in Southern Italy.  It turns out they were a notorious gang that later had a shoot out with the state police, where one was murdered and other had grusome injuries.  Some of my friends were called in to testify against them.  Since then I feel as though I can go anywhere and do anything because I have already encountered the violent crime I will encounter in my lifetime.

Now I can ignore that previously stated probability that as a “35 year old woman I have more likehood of being held hostage by a terrorist than getting married.”  I just have to find someone who wants to sprint along in my general direction.

Any where you go there is crime. I may think the USA is safe, or Canada, but in their newspapers there are reports of horrific crimes, just the rest of the world dont hear about it.
