Sarah Berl, Red Line FilmsNFL linebacker and Renaissance man Dhani Jones hosts the new Travel Channel show, Dhani Tackles the Globe.
Like any good Renaissance man, he’s writing poems inspired by the travel experiences featured on each show.
The topic of tonight’s journey: Hurling in Ireland.
Speak
I hear voices everywhere… I see people in the street… I feel the beating drum of the hurly stick rock rhythms of a palatable tone… One two, one two, it is the motion that meets a vibe and a vibe that meets a stick, contact I say… Make loud intersections of a pitch and play… Scream good fortune of Trinity college chilling like Woodstock drinking Guinness making a place in history… Some might say its a mystery to you and me… The republic, the war of words must stop and the continuing beat of the hurly must play… History repeats itself seven times seven a day…
I want potatoes and corn beef to make me feel good… I want to score a goal and feel included in the soulful search of life’s greatest lesson… We shall defend and honor the Gaelic voices from above and separate man from shliter… I reckon Dublin hath spirit and I one to learn from those whom can speak… I love the new and different for it describes the there and now… I have spoken and vow to do it again… And again… if I speak then you speak and we all create a synergy of pride and a relentless passion which is Ireland…
