Bit late for the White house to nuance their position on business travel. It’s already been demonized. As long as the recession is still around, the media is going to go after any company who puts together a big get together, legitimate or not.

Am I the only one irritated that Japan’s Foreign Ministry is officially sanctioning an infantile image of women with this “ambassador of cute” stuff? On top of last night’s premiere of “Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches,” I’m feeling, in the words of my fellow blogger Pam Mandel, like quite the humorless feminist this morning.

Julie - not only do I agree with you, but, even if they looked like full grown women it would still be a ridiculous venture!!  Japan, like any culture/place has it’s own “ways” of doing things and unique ideas but they really do need to be more aware of how their ideas are perceived outside of themselves, especially in this case since the whole idea revolves around international ambassadorship!!!

It seems the Travel Channel, as of late, is trying to “mix it up” with some new show ideas!  I’m not really offended as a women by “Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches”, but that’s not why I’m not going to watch it - it just looks bad!!!  This is not the only new show that I think will miss the mark big time!!!  The Travel Channel shows up to now have been great, for the most part ,but they need to remember the old adage that says, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”!!!  New ideas are great, but ANY new idea may not be!!

Did anyone else immediately think “Die Hard” when they read about the re-naming of the Sears Tower?  :-)

I won’t weigh in on whether Bridget is offensive, but I agree that it doesn’t look very good. I certainly didn’t watch it. I also must live in crappy neighborhoods because I’ve never had a girl next door that looked like her. Seriously though, I don’t want the Travel Channel to go all MTV on us.

Dhani tackles the globe looks promising to me. NFL player participating in indigenous games from around the world could be done well.

This story of Ambassador of cute is a bit ridiculous and will do no good to counter stereotypes ...
