Thai Airways Flight Attendants Cry, Stop ‘The Air Hostess War’!*

Viewers of “The Air Hostess War,” a sexy new soap opera that debuted on Thailand’s Channel 5 last week, have a different refrain: We like it!
The BBC reports viewers are “enthralled” by the show, which features “a dashing, married pilot having an affair with one of his tall, slim flight attendants. Love triangles lead to fighting in the aisles and steamy sex scenes at stopover cities.” Thai flight attendants call the show “unrealistic and immoral,” and are fighting back.
From the AP:
The Thai Airways International union issued a letter urging the Culture Ministry to order the show to be pulled from the air.
“This soap opera is insulting and damaging to the reputation of flight attendants,” said Noppadol Thaungthong, a Thai Airways flight attendant leading the union’s action. “It’s all about sex and air hostesses beating each other up in the cabin because of love and jealousy. This kind of thing never happens.”
Flight attendant feuds never happen? Really?
Channel 5 said it will continue to air the show, “but will consider suggesting that scenes found to be offensive be edited out.”
It all makes me wonder if this ever made it to Thai TV and movie screens:
Update Jan. 22, 4:07 p.m.: The producers of “The Air Hostess War” have apologized and say they will tone down the show. “I’m sorry that our soap opera has caused such a fuss,” said the show’s director, Nipon Pewnen. “I would like to say that we don’t have any intention of causing trouble. We just want to entertain our viewers.”
Update Jan. 23, 3:03 p.m.: Gridkipper has unearthed the trailer for the show:
